For the last three years, mothers, birthworkers, lactation professionals, freebirthers, homeschoolers, homebirthers, doulas, doctors, vegans, carnivores, lunatics, maniacs, and a couple militia members have joined in our annual nurse-in. Last year, our boob deluge against Bobbie formula investors triggered the CEO, Laura Modi to ask to meet with us in order to broker a peace deal.
We demanded unconditional surrender (publicly vow to no longer disparage breastfeeding in ads, break all ties with IBCLCs and doulas, devote a portion of Bobbie’s advertising budget to promoting the benefits of exclusive breastfeeding). She countered with an offer to partner with Bobbie. We said:
We’re not going to wait around hoping Bobbie will change, instead we are going above their head to the METAVERSE.
Who can put an end to predatory marketing across Meta platforms?
The Meta Oversight Board.
They are like the Supreme Court that rules on Meta's content policy. They have already demonstrated that they believe public health should take priority over profit (Meta has demonetized influencer marketing of alcohol, firearms, vape and tobacco). Where do they stand on UNSAFE feeding advice, improper preparation instructions, and misleading health claims made by formula companies and their influencers?
